Abstract

In recent years, a new urban music scene has consolidated in Spain. Crossing perspectives from the sociology of music and mediatization studies, the concept of mediatized music world is proposed as a conceptual device in order to describe the ways in which media logics influence this scene’s regular workings. After identifying urban music’s meme authors as a type of sociotechnical actor that belongs to this music world, a digital ethnographic approach is carried in order to describe their relations of interdependence with Instagram, as well as with other profiles of the scene, namely companies, artists and audiences.
