Abstract

Nowadays, the main actors in the I+D+I are aware of the need to bring the results of their research to the general public. To do this, they have incorporated into their organizational Departments or Communication Units, whose main function is to demonstrate the research work of that agent in the media, where emerges the figure of specialist science journalist and create specific spaces to I+D+i.

In recent years and in the national level, spaces such as Redes, directed by Eduardo Punset and issued from 1996 to 2014 in the 2 channel or A hombres de gigantes, directed by Manuel Seara Valero in Radio Nacional de España (RNE), are a paradigm about how the media can serve to bring science to the public.

What is the situation in 2014 in Galicia? Are there spaces similar to that in the the Galician media? In what support and with what characteristics? This article try to answer these an other questions using techniques such as in-depth interviews and content analysis.

It was found that in Galicia there are spaces in the media dedicated exclusively to science. As a subject of the study we have been selected three: Efervesciencia in Radio Galega; Soño con Ciencia in  V Television and GCiencia.com. Furthermore, Galicia has awards for science journalists and has, together with Cataluña and Madrid, an association that brings together the sectors involved in the communication and disclosure of I+D+i. Therefore, it is an autonomous community to pay attention to investigate the difficult and exciting challenge of communicating the I + D + i to a non-specialized public.
